Hoa Trang Nguyen Award 2008 to outstanding students in Southern Vietnam

On September 13 and 14, the Tan Tao Group in coordination with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education, Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Vietnam Association of non-State Universities and Colleges held the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award Night Festival and Ceremony of awarding to 476 outstanding students from 26 Southern provinces and cities.

The Awarding Ceremony was attended by Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Vu Ngoc Hoang, Member of the Political Bureau and Vice-chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education; Professor Dr. Tran Hong Quan, former Minister of Education and Training and Chairman of the Vietnam Association of non-State Universities and Colleges; Vice professor-Dr. Phan Thanh Binh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice-president of the HCM Party Committee; Ms. Dang Thi Hoang Yen, Chairwoman of the Tan Tao Group and leaders of education departments of 26 Southern provinces.

The Hoa Trang Nguyen Night Festival was broadcast live on VTC5 Channel and the Awarding Ceremony was aired live on VTV1 Channel.

The Hoa Trang Nguyen Award will be held annually to honor and connect outstanding students across Vietnam as well as promote national education.

Professor Dr. Tran Hong Quan, Chairman of the Award Board presents awards to students with
highest marks in the 2008 university entrance exam.

The Hoa Trang Nguyen Award 2008 has honored 816 outstanding students in the North and 476 ones of 26 Southern provinces. The Awarding Ceremony will be held in the Da Nang University in Central Vietnam to award 179 outstanding students on September 21. The total value of awards is VND 1.5 billion.

The awards have been presented to recognize students’ ceaseless efforts in study and encourage them to weather difficulties to study further and grasp scientific and technological advances to contribute to the national development.
