Hoa Trang Nguyen awardees – Great hopes of the country
On the morning of Sept. 30, the 2012 Hoa Trang Nguyen Award Ceremony was held at the Vietnam National University to honor 586 outstanding students representing 31 provinces in the Northern and Southern regions. The Ceremony were attended by Dr. Vo Tong Xuan, Rector of Tan Tao University; Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National University; Mr. Thai Van Men, Chief Operating Officer of Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corporation; heads of departments of Vietnam National University, education departments of 31 provinces.
This is the fifth year that Vietnam National University has coordinated with Ministry of Education and Training, Tan Tao Group and Vietnam Television to organize Hoa Trang Nguyen Award Ceremony to honor and encourage students with excellent academic performance, and to promote studying and learning activities of students.
Among 586 Hoa Trang Nguyen awardees in the Northern and Central regions are 482 high school students, 39 highest scorers at the national university entrance exam, 40 first national prize winners, 4 international contest team members, 21 international medal winners and disadvantaged and poor students.
Deputy Director Nguyen Kim Son and Chief Operating Officer Thai Van Men granted certificates, cups and other valuable awards to Hoa Trang Nguyen students.
On behalf of the Vietnam National University’s leaders, Assoc. Dr. & Ph.D. Nguyen Kim Son cordially congratulated and greeted 586 Hoa Trang Nguyen awardees and affirmed education and training have been regarded as a top-priority policy and a breakthrough for the country to quickly move forward to industrialization and modernization and global integration. Therefore, talents play a significant role in such knowledge-based development strategy and Hoa Trang Nguyen students become great hopes for the country.
He gave a brief introduction of the Vietnam National University, university education centers, and quality multi-discipline scientific research centers. The Vietnam National University has the mission of quality improvement, discovery and development of human resource; becoming a center of innovation, scientific research and technology development; embracing a key role and a new motive force in Vietnamese education system.
He advised Hoa Trang Nguyen awardees to accumulate, expand and search for knowledge, practice creativeness, health, qualities and skills to become a global citizen in the future. The Vietnam National University always welcomes Hoa Trang Nguyen students and delivers the best opportunity to make their dreams come true.
Also at the ceremony, Mr. Thai Van Men shared happiness when seeing bright faces of Hoa Trang Nguyen students. Tan Tao Group will continue to support and accompany with the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award. He expected Hoa Trang Nguyen students would promote their learning spirit to have better achievements, contribute to the development of the country.
Earlier, on the afternoon of Sept. 29, Hoa Trang Nguyen students offered incense at the Temple of Literature, which is the first university in Vietnam. In the evening, 586 Hoa Trang Nguyen students joined the Hoa Trang Nguyen Evening Festival with music performances and games. The Evening has helped to connect Hoa Trang Nguyen students from various provinces in the Northern and Central regions.
