VND 1 Billion Given to Ho Chi Minh City Dioxin Victims as of Lunar New Year

On the day of the Lunar New Year, 2008, Tan Tao Investment-Industry Corporation and the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims pledged gifts to dioxin victims in districts of Ho Chi Minh City.

The gifts included cash and Tet presents worth VND 300 million in total. In Cu Chi and Can Gio districts where the largest number of poor victims live, 561 presents were given.

ItaExpress was informed that the total donation has reached VND 1 billion (of which Tan Tao Investment-Industry Corporation donated VND 500 million) to finance health care services, medical treatment, building of compassion houses (VND 208 million); investment capital for doing business (VND 100 million); 32 scholarships to families with descendants of victims in difficult situations or in ethnic minority areas; and VND 645,369,400 presented at the mid-autumn Festival and the Lunar New Year 2008 for providing health care and gifts to agent orange/dioxin victims.

On January 25, 2008, Ms. Dinh Thi My Dung, Vice-Head of Administrative & Personnel Department of Tan Tao Investment-Industry Corporation, Ms. Le Thi Ngot, Standing Vice-President of the Association, and Mr. Pham Thanh Tong, Head of Policy Organization at the Department of Agent Orange/Dioxin Association, in coordination with the standing committee of Cu Chi district Red Cross Association, visited and offered the Tet presents and bestowed three compassion houses to dioxin victims in Cu Chi district. The houses, each worth VND 15 million, were handed over to the families of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Nguyen Thi Oi, and Nguyen Thi Loan in Phu Trung, Binh Ha Dong and Thai My hamlets.
