Environmental protection training to enterprises in Tan Tao Industrial Park

With the aim of strengthening environmental management capacity of enterprises in the Ho Chi Minh City export processing and industrial zones, a training course on environmental protection for enterprises in the Tan Tao IP was held on October 22 by the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Park Zone Authority (Hepza).

Nearly 200 environment officials of the enterprises attended the training course and were briefly introduced about the Law on Environment Protection comprised of Decree 80/2006/ND-CP (detailed regulations and guidance for implementation of Environmental Protection Law); Decree 81/2006/ND-CP (measures on administrative penalty for environmental protection); Circular 08/2006/TT-BTNMT (guiding the strategic environment assessment, environmental impact assessment and environmental protection commitments).

The Training Board also made conversational exchanges of advantages and disadvantages concerning enterprises’ environmental protection activities.

Vietnam has set the target of the year 2010 to build 100 percent of new production establishments equipped with clean technology or devices to lessen pollution; more than 50 percent of production establishments satisfying environmental standards; all export processing and industrial zones with waste water treatment systems; 90 percent common solid wastes, 80 percent harmful wastes and entire medical wastes being collected and treated in accordance with the environmental standards.

The Training Board introduces legal documents on environmental protection enforcement to
environment officials of enterprises in the Tan Tao Industrial Park.

For that reason, environmental protection activities may become more efficient and effective if all enterprises understand clearly their central roles and responsibilities for environmental protection, seeking measures to reduce energy and natural resources consumption, monitoring environmental impacts inside and outside factories. And all enterprises should be aware that environmental protection activities not only promote sustainable development of enterprises but also bring tremendous benefits to the society.
