The Largest Ever Fire Prevention Drill

On the morning of January 26, 2008, the Fire Prevention team of Tan Tao Industrial Park, in coordination with Zones 7,8 and 11 and the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention Police held the largest-scale Fire Prevention drill ever on the grounds of Paiho Company Ltd. in Tan Tao Industrial Park.

Upon receiving the go-ahead from the captain’s whistle, the Fire Prevention team carried out basic on-site fire control operations and sent assistance calls from the Tan Tao Industrial Park Fire Prevention team to professional Fire Prevention forces in different areas and to the Ho Chi Minh City fire department. Within 10 minutes, right after receiving the calls, the Fire Prevention forces promptly gained access to the “fire” spot. Under the force of dozens of high-pressure water hoses, the “fire” spot was quickly under control. With rescue cranes reaching high floors of the building, trapped "victims" were rescued and evacuated to safe areas to receive on-site emergency first-aid.

Throughout the 30-minute drill, the Fire Prevention forces successfully fulfilled the prescribed plan. The local Fire Prevention teams also demonstrated their skills in the evacuation of 1000 people from the company to a safe area. That was the complimentary evaluation by Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Le Tan Buu, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention Department. He stated his expectation that the company’s Fire Prevention team will frequently cooperate with Tan Tao Industrial Park Fire Prevention team and other professional Fire Prevention forces to hold more drills in order to improve their techniques and coordination and be ready to cope with any potential disasters.
