Nearly VND 200 million given to poor students in Thanh Hoa

On the morning of February 26, 2008, at the Thanh Hoa Convention Center, the ITA-Foundations of the Tan Tao Group (Ho Chi Minh city) in coordination with the Learning Promotion Association handed over 183 scholarships to poor students of the province.

The scholarships, each worth VND 1 million, were given to poor students selected by the local Learning Promotion Association from among 523 applications sent to the ITA-Foundation for the Future.

The scholarship offering Ceremony was attended by Mr. Hoang Van Hoang, a member of the provincial standing committee of the Party; Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa city, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Buu; President of the Learning Promotion Association of Thanh Hoa province, Mrs. Truong Thi Ngoc Bich; a representative of ITA-Foundations of the Tan Tao Group; the heads of many provincial departments and unions; the leader of the People‘s Committee of districts and cities; Presidents of learning promotion associations; principals of education departments, teachers, students of 16 districts, and 3 sponsored schools.

During her speech, Mrs. Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, the representative of ITA-Foundations in Hanoi stated: “We are aware that economic development is in close connection with social activities, Tan Tao Group is the leading sponsor for charity activities. The Group has decided to take a part of operation and business profits for social activities including supporting poor students with good performances, teachers in remote mountainous areas, orange agent patients, supporting policy families, people suffering from flood and other calamities… We hope that the modest contributions will partly solve difficulties of poor students and develop the provincial education in a higher level.”

In the first phase of the programme, on September 30, 2007, at the Ceremony launching the ITA-Foundations, Tan Tao Group ‘s leaders handed over VND 21 billion at the Hanoi Opera House.

Mrs. Truong Ngoc Bich offered scholarships to poor students at the Ceremony.
