ITA-Foundation Offers VND 200 million to 200 Poor Children with Good Academic Performance in Ho Chi Minh City and Long An Province

At 8 a.m on January 30, 2008, the Competition Festival of Wrapping ‘banh chung’ and ‘banh tet’ was held along with the Ceremony presenting ITA-Foundations scholarships to children with good academic performance at the Meeting-Hall on Dam Sen Cutural Park Island.

The program was held by the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Population, Family and Children and Children Love Newspaper (Bao Yeu Tre) in coordination with Milky US company and ITA-Foundations.

The program was attended by Ms. Bach Yen, Head of Department of Culture and Society of Ho Chi Minh City People ‘s Committee; Ms. Mai Hoa, Head of the Social Division of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Society; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Nga, Vice-President of Ho Chi Minh Association of Journalists; Ms. Vu Kim Anh, Head of the Ho Chi Minh Committee for Population, Family and Children; Ms. To Thi Kim Hoa, Vice-Head; Ms. Nguyen Quang Tho, Editorial Director of Children Love newspaper; Mr. Vu Ngoc Xiem, Vice-Editorial Director; representatives of departments, branches, unions, newspapers; and 700 students from 24 districts of Ho Chi Minh City and Long An province.

The representatives of Tan Tao Group include Mr. Thai Van Men, President; and Ms. Le Luu Huyen Thanh and Tran Duy Ngoc Diep, Vice-Presidents of the Vietnam-US High Technology Dairy Joint Stock Company (Milky US), an Affiliate Company of Tan Tao Group.

During his speech, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tho expressed his thanks to Tan Tao Group, the Vietnam-US High Techonology Dairy Joint Stock Company (Milky US) in particular, and ITA-Foundations for the assistance of poor children to overcome difficulties, and for creating opportunities for children to have rich, meaningful playground experiences in the coming of springtime. The scholarships will inspire children to make more efforts to achieve their dreams.

Mr. Thai Van Men offers a VND 200 million cheque to Mr. Nguyen Quang Tho.

Mr. Thai Van Men of Tan Tao Group handed 200 scholarships, each worth VND 1 million, to students with good academic performance, and gave a speech to the delegates and children during the program.

After the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, children joined the Competition Festival of Wrapping ‘banh chung’ and ‘banh tet’ using wrapping tools and materials carefully prepared by the Organizing Board. In addition, children were instructed by the artisans in Cu Chi district to wrap cakes quickly and skillfully. The children not participating in the Competition Festival got the chance to color and write New Year's greeting cards to families, relatives or other children living in compassion houses, open houses, and compassion classes. Visitors in Dam Sen Park could also enjoy game stores on the playground, situated beside the bridge to the island.

Mr. Thai Van Men offers scholarships and compliments to children from Long An province.
Ms. Tran Duy Ngoc Diep offers scholarships to children in Ho Chi Minh City.

The participating children were picked up by the Organizing Board, and were allowed to enter for free and were served breakfast and lunch. When leaving, each received one ‘banh tet’ and one gift bag worth VND 100,000.

The program concluded at 12.30 on the same day and in the same warm and joyful atmosphere.
